Duties
As a Health Communications Officer you will:
Serve as the Health Communications Officer (HCO) and principal advisor to the Director on communication and marketing science, research and practice and is appropriate for establishment at the Center level, or equivalent.
Lead and direct the development and implementation of a comprehensive communication and marketing program, including the establishing of goals and objectives,
Serve as the lead strategic advisor for communication and marketing in the programmatic area; coordinates and/or manages all communication and marketing activities within the organization.
Serve as the project officer for contractors.
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work, when necessary.
Provide critical expertise, management, and oversight to a wide range of complex and inter-related activities,

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: developing, coordinating and managing all public health communication and marketing activities related to the organization and public health issues.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to
