This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Human Resources, Health Services Medical Suitability (HRUS).
This position(s) primary purpose is to provide administrative management and support of significant Health Suitability Unit programs involving medical opinions and recommendations pertaining to employees' abilities to perform the essential functions of a specific position as it relates to their health condition(s).
Duties
As a Medical Suitability Program Manager, your typical work assignments may include:
Serving as a Medical Suitability Program Manager and programmatic advisor to the Chief, Health Services Medical Suitability (HRUS).
Providing administration and management to daily operation of the DEA's Medical Employability Program (MEP).
Managing the full administrative functions of the DEA Suitability Review Protocol (SRP) Program. Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on SRP process, engaging with contracted providers and staff.
Supporting caseload, handling and maintaining sensitive medical documentation pertaining to the program.

Qualifications

Applicants applying for the GS-12 must meet one of the following requirements:
A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-11 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing support to management advisors on medical employability and medical clearance in accordance with organizational policies and procedures; 2) Supporting employees, and management in employment suitability areas such as (e.g. Medical Employability, Fitness for Duty, Medical clearances, Return to duty.) 3) Understanding medical terminology, illness and disease etiology, recovery timelines of issues surrounding medical clearances and physical requirements of employability.

A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-12 grade level. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Advising management on medical employability and medical clearance in accordance with organizational policies and procedures;2) Serving as a consultant to employees, and management in employment suitability areas such as (e.g. Medical Employability, Fitness for Duty, Medical clearances, Return to duty.); 3) Utilizing medical terminology, illness and disease etiology, recovery timelines of issues surrounding medical clearances and physical requirements of employability.
