About the Position: Provides administrative and technical military personnel support with responsibility for a variety of military personnel administration duties in areas such as: promotion lists, evaluations, retirements and separations, and administrative duties that include military personnel correspondence and document control management. This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Center, Bethesda, MD.

Duties

Resolve technical issues by providing advice to a military command when there are multiple solutions. Resolve pay, Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH), Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) and other finance issues. Update enlisted assignment data using Enlisted Distribution Assignment System (EDAS). Process officer and enlisted evaluation statistical reports using the Army Evaluation Reporting System. Extract data to produce organizational reports for management. Log incoming correspondence with a suspense date before assigning to appropriate staff member for action.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 10 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes update or manage military personnel records in Human Resources databases (i.e. Army Evaluation Reporting System) and process a variety of military personnel actions which include promotions, both non commissioned officer and commissioned officer evaluations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Human Resources. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer ServicePersonnel Action Processing and Recordkeeping Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
