Duties
You will repair, maintain, and test interior electric wiring and wiring systems.
You will remove and replace burned-out incandescent, fluorescent, and HID bulbs, tubes and lamps.
You will maintain and repair battery operated emergency floodlights located in buildings ensuring they are in fully operational condition and ready to automatically switch on immediately after a power outage.
You will monitor and maintain the fire alarm system, to include reporting systems, smoke detectors, and auxiliary equipment.
You will coordinate proposed inspections, repairs, and alterations to fire protection and alarm systems with the installation's fire department.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain the applicable license(s) or authorization(s) to operate assigned equipment.
- Must possess or be able to obtain National Institute of Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Fire Alarm Level 1 Certification within one year from date of hire.
- Must complete Electrical Explosives Safety for Naval Facilities Training within one year from date of hire. This training will be provided by PWD.
- You will be required to lift and carry items that weigh up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from others.
- This position is designated Non-Sensitive. The applicant/incumbent must complete a Tier 1 (SF85) investigation with a requirement of Favorable as final adjudication.
- Employee works inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy.
- May be exposed to temperature extremes in test facilities, extremely high noise levels, and exposure to lead, radiation, chemicals, or carcinogens.
- Many work on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet, or in close quarters such as manholes or attics. Subject to electric shock, cuts, and bruises.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: having the ability to perform common tasks to include: making electrical repairs by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, soldering, or insulating defective wiring, controls, equipment, and/or fixtures such as broken and bare wiring, burned out switches and relays, loose connections and fittings, damaged light fixtures, and poorly operating thermostats. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
