Duties

Summary Continued: Military/Airman & Family Readiness Center (M/A&FRC) services include, but are not limited to: Transition Assistance, Relocation Assistance, Personal and Family Readiness, Personal Financial Readiness, Employment Assistance, Personal and Work Life, Information and Referral, Volunteer Resources, Voting Assistance, Exceptional Family Member Program-Family Support (EFMP-FS), Air Force Families Forever and other work/life services and activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian members, and their families. Duties: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Assesses needs and provides work/life services to leadership, organizations, and populations serviced by the M/A&FRC. Supports and participates in quality initiatives. Participates in quality self-assessments. Strives to improve programs and increase efficiencies by analyzing performance and identifying enhancements to work processes. Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs nonroutine assignments. Participates in or performs special projects, studies, and assignments that are not regularly required or ongoing in nature.

  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

  • Previous experience as Military/Airman and Family Readiness Center, Community Readiness Consultant (CRC) is highly desirable.

  • Completion of Air University Airman and Family Readiness Foundational Course is highly desirable.
  • 1-YEAR SUPERVISORY PROBATIONARY PERIOD IS REQUIRED
  • Employee must be able and willing to assume a lead/supervisory position.

Qualifications

Conditions of Employment Continued: The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,") Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, GS-0101. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: 1) Applying knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. 2) Providing knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques used in team building; establishing team performance goals and assessing team progress; and providing effective team training. 3) Conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues; providing assistance in developing goals and plans; determining appropriate referral services/options; and providing practical guidance on work/life issues (e.g., family separation, personal financial management, etc.) when frequently there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing them to accept that problems exist. 4) Establishing and maintaining effective and positive working relationships with team members, other team leaders, individuals/families, leadership of organizations, and program representatives and officials. 5) Assessing and measuring customer-organizations' trends, concerns, and needs; assisting in identifying and prioritizing goals; and providing guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address such issues. 6) Communicating effectively, orally and in writing. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
