As a supervisor/manager, the selectee for this position will be eligible to receive a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) provided eligibility requirements noted in agency policy are met. The MPI is an annual lump-sum incentive payment that considers agency performance, the manager's individual performance, and available funding.If you are not FSS facility rated, you must attend the Alaska Flight Service Training Academy.
Duties
Directs the work of subordinate employees at the organizational unit level providing first-line supervision to a team of FSS Air Traffic Control Specialists (ATCS). Work usually includes routine project/program tasks based on established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Managerial duties affect employees in one organizational unit, and include planning, assigning, setting priorities, tasks, and schedules; monitoring and evaluating performance; coaching and developing employee capabilities; and taking or recommending corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- Position is designated as Moderate Risk; a background investigation may be required.
- A 1-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.
- This position is covered under Public Law 92-297 for early retirement purposes.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12, CPC level. Applicants must have specialized experience in an air traffic facility which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the advertised position. This experience must have provided a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules and regulations. Such experience is typically demonstrated by accomplishment of assignments of the difficulty and responsibility described in the position classification standard used to evaluate positions at the next lower grade/pay band level (FV-H, FG/GS-12, CPC).The FAA 3330-43 (unrated) is a required form which will be used when making qualifications determination.
