Serves as an Operations Supervisor (Front Line Manager) in an ATC Level 7 terminal facility.

Duties

Supervises a staff of Air Traffic Control Specialists who are responsible for carrying out air traffic control assignments within the geographic area of Fairbanks Alaska. Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinate employees.

Requirements

• US Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
• Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
• SF-50 Must show current position, title, series, grade, tenure, org.
• A completed FAA form 3330-43 (not rated) is required before closing date.
• Position is covered under PL 92-297 for early retirement purposes.
• Some, all, or none of the candidates may be interviewed.
• A one-year supervisor/managerial probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

In conjunction with the qualification requirements outlined in the OPM Qualification Standards for General Schedule positions in the 2152, Air Traffic Control series, the requirements listed below determines the basic qualification requirements for Manager, Supervisor, and Support (MSS) positions in the terminal and en route options. Please read the qualification requirements described below. For MSS-1 through MSS-4 positions, applicants must have the following specialized experience requirements:1) Must have held an FAA 2152 FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks);OR2) Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility; Note: an employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher graded work;OR3) Must have held an MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.In addition to the qualifications listed above for MSS positions, the chart for MSS positions will be used to determine which career level applicants are qualified to make application.NOTE: FSS falls under Systems Operations within ATO. FSS Air Traffic Controllers would need to meet the requirements listed above by having experience in Air Traffic Services (ATS) Facilities or as stated in 1.
