This position is located in the FOG Shops, Facilities Operations & Services Division (FOSD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD) shops provide 24/7 normal utility services as well as emergency power and chilled water to mission critical functions and systems, and operate and support sophisticated chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear and high-yield explosive (CBRNE) threat protective systems for the Pentagon Reservation.

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Manages the operation of a complex Building Automation System. Serve as a technical authority in the engineering of minor construction alterations and renovations on the Pentagon reservation. Serve as the Supervisory General Engineer. Develop procedures and processes for system operation and maintenance. Reviews designs, calculations, specifications and other engineering requirements for equipment changes and modifications.

(1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced that first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act Chapter 21 of Title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.), Section 2108a, requires Federal agencies treat active duty service member as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligible, when they submit, at the time they apply for a Federal job, a "certification" of active service in lieu of a DD-214, assuming the service member is otherwise eligible. A "certification" letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Further, under paragraph (h) of the rule, agencies are required to verify a qualifying separation from military service prior to appointment, through the DD-214 or other appropriate documentation. Active duty members that fail to provide a valid "certification" of service with their initial application will be found "not eligible." Military members may be appointed before the effective date of their military retirement/separation if member is on terminal leave.
