About the Position: This position is located in the US Army Sustainment Command, Logistics Readiness Center, located in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. This position is a term appointment NTE 13 months. Internal Army employees may also apply under Announcement Number MCGK246095162414R to be considered for a time limited assignment.

Duties

Receives and processes incoming shipments. Operates electric forklifts capable of lifting up to 6000 pounds as high as 14 feet. Unloads, inspects, and tallies stock assuring quantities and types of items agree with shipping documents. Selects proper item for issue. Palletizes and assembles in temporary warehousing/storage area.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the incumbent must be able to work flexible tours of duty to include alternating shifts/irregular hours, weekends, night shift or day shifts.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a forklift operator license within three months of employment.
  • Employee may be required to use safety equipment such as: safety shoes, gloves, aprons, safety glasses, goggles, hearing protectors, or any other safety equipment that will preclude personal injury.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period.
  • This position may require the incumbent to Travel (TDY) up to 5% of the times.
  • Inclement Weather Essential Position: Incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Working Conditions: Work is performed inside the warehouse and outside. The areas may be cold, drafty, damp or hot. The work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. There is the possibility of injury from falling of dropped stock and exposure to cuts, scrapes and bruises; falls from ladders; or injury from mechanical conveyor or other equipment.
