This position is located in the Office of Human Subjects Research Protections (OHSRP), Office of Intramural Research (OIR), Office of the Director (OD). The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge and skills to successfully provide administrative and program analyses to IRB senior staff and investigators. Duties

Serves as an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Analyst, with responsibility for independently providing analytical and program support to the NIH Intramural IRB. Serves as a primary contact regarding IRB procedures and regulatory requirements for research conducted in the IRP. Participates in analyzing and evaluating IRB operations and procedures, in developing and recommending ways to improve their effectiveness and efficiency in meeting regulatory and policy requirements. Reads, reviews, and becomes familiar with content of individual protocols, consents, and actions under IRB review. Recommends changes to improve subject safety and to ensure regulatory compliance. Develops guidance materials, manuals, templates, job aids and other written and electronic resources on IRB processes and function.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet the following qualification requirement: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: reviewing IRB requests for completeness and accuracy; monitoring human subject research programs for compliance with regulations and policies; and, coordinating with Principal Investigators to facilitate their IRB requests. You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet the following qualification requirement: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: reviewing and evaluating research protocol actions for their compliance to regulations and policies; performing program planning and analysis activities for a scientific organization; evaluating the impact of new human subject research program policies on existing research programs; and developing measures of effectiveness in setting program goals and objectives.
