This position is located within the Forest Service, Chief Financial Officer, and is responsible for implementing, operating, and maintaining an integrated financial information system that is responsive to user and customer needs. Duties
Provides advice and assistance to supported organizations and lower graded financial analysts, accountants, accounting technicians, and others.
Develops, adapts, modifies, or integrates accounting and financial procedures.
Develops and performs on-going analyses and interpretation of financial data in the general ledger to determine if the information is accurate, complete, and informative to management.
Identifies and resolves problems occurring on various accounting reports and financial statements.
Plans the work to be accomplished by the unit, assigns work to employees, and establishes production or quality standards for the unit’s work.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
- Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.

- Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period (unless prior service is creditable).
- New Forest Service supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required new supervisory training program before the end of their probationary period.
Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-12: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following: performing analytical work involved in identifying, researching, and monitoring financial management activities; and/or interpreting and applying policies and guidelines applicable to financial management; and/or participating in the review and evaluation effectiveness of internal controls.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
