Serves as an Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (STARS) responsible for performing a variety of functions directly related to the operation of the NAS at the Dallas/Fort Worth Automation System Support Center (SSC), WCS23-D10.

Duties

The Airway Transportation Systems Specialists (ATSS) at this level is recognized as the subject matter expert in their field. All duties of an ATSS are tied to maintaining safe and efficient operating capacity of the vast and complex network of electronics systems required for the world's largest air traffic control and navigation system.

• US Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
• Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
• Supervisor's Endorsement is required for a permanent promotion.
• An endorsement is not required if ingrade or downgrade.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Temporary NTE 2 years, may be extended without further competition, terminated early; can be made permanent.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.Specialized Experience:Experience that demonstrates expert knowledge, skill or ability to perform the operation with the installation, maintenance, modification, repair, troubleshooting, flight check and certification of Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS). This discipline is heavily engaged in operations and maintenance of industrial computer systems in the corporate environment, industrial systems to include both hardware and software applications. In addition, this position maintains other electrical/mechanical equipment/systems necessary to ensure reliability of facilities on and of airports with the network of NAS.Applicants must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position. Generally, experience at the next lower pay band of FV-H/level III or equivalent, meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience provides ALL Demonstrated Abilities identified within the "Application Questionnaire" section.Demonstrated Abilities: Applicants MUST provide narrative responses for each Demonstrated Ability listed within this announcement. Focuses on the overall NAS systems performance and causes of system degradation. Collaborates with system users, planners, engineers, and contractor personnel in the installation and testing of new or modified systems in identifying needed improvements or enhancements.Receives general program assignments from a supervisor or higher-level manager. Assignments are stated in terms of priorities, overall objectives, and boundaries. Completed assignments are considered technically authoritative and are reviewed only for general compliance with organizational objectives. Identifies resources needed to perform assignments. Organizes and assigns resources needed to accomplish large work activities within established schedules. Work is reviewed for compliance and established policies and sound technical and programmatic judgement.Performs other duties as assigned.
