As an Administrative Specialist for the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights (OCWR), you will be responsible for full front-line administrative support of a wide range of operational tasks and office functions. The position requires that the Administrative Specialist be physically present during OCWR office hours and have a strong understanding of the OCWR goals and objectives, as well as a working knowledge of the legislative branch.
Duties
Duties will be performed in a timely and competent manner while working both independently and cooperatively. Accuracy in written correspondence, clear and courteous communication, task prioritization, and a willingness to promote a positive and collegial work environment are of the upmost importance.
Responsibilities
Assist with all office administrative and operational support matters. Physically open the front office each morning, and close the office at the end of the workday.
Greet and escort guests; answer and direct calls to the appropriate staff or office; and timely respond to messages.
Properly intake all forms submitted to the office, receive and distribute incoming email, mail, and packages; and address and support the administrative needs of the Office to include ordering, tracking, and distributing supplies.
Draft memoranda correspondence, letters, and documents as requested. Manage the office electronic calendar for internal conference rooms, arrange for external meeting space as needed, and control access to restricted areas within the office suite. Serve as the liaison for maintenance, physical security (locks, keys, etc.) and interior workspace operations.
Produce and distribute internal communications to OCWR staff to further the OCWR mission (i.e., weekly office news, office closing information, etc.). Assist with the creation and maintenance of legislative branch contact lists and utilize the legislative branch financial management system in support of office administrative operations.
Provide administrative support to the biennial Congressional Workplace Climate Survey and other special projects as assigned. Troubleshoot any administrative issues that may arise, and identify and advise office leadership on opportunities to improve the administrative operations of the Office.
Maintain strict confidentiality of the Office regarding personnel and case information, and other confidential sensitive materials as required by the Congressional Accountability Act and the Procedural Rules of the Office.
Act as a timekeeper for members of the OCWR Board of Directors. Provide hands-on support in preparation for meetings, assist in corresponding and compiling information as requested, and prepare travel arrangements to include air, per diem, and lodging for the Board members.

Qualifications
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interpret policy and resolve complex problems that may arise.
Excellent interpersonal skills to form mutually beneficial relationships with staff, vendors, or other external and internal stakeholders.
Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment while effectively prioritizing various unrelated tasks.
Demonstrated prior administrative/support experience and experience managing/ monitoring projects.
Legislative Branch experience preferred, but not required.
Attention to detail is a must.
Education
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
