Duties
Investigate patient complaints and with a high level of sensitivity, takes immediate steps to remedy the situation and provides clarification of policies and established procedures in order to achieve patient satisfaction.
Establish priorities for the timely response to patient inquiries/complaints, referring only critical cases to direct management for assistance in resolution.
Research appropriate databases, and other required coding to determine validity of medical bills prior to providing information to patients.
Monitor and complete backlog of all incomplete or unanswered patient email inquiries and direct management to any potential cases that may be escalated to the MTF patient advocate or become a congressional.
Independently work challenging projects as identified and delegated by management to ensure new or intermittent billing and coding guidance is properly processed
Resolve complex problems, working with customers whose accounts have been transferred for debt management, analyzing customer accounts for resolution, and working with insurance carriers on behalf of customers to resolve payment submission issues
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- 06 or above grade level in the Federal service which include reviewing technical and analytical information involving billing account status, outstanding receivables, entering a variety of information/date into the data base, preparing financial reports, maintaining accounting records connected to Itemized Billing Program.
