You will serve as a ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will determine the tools and test equipment needed to perform work on electronically controlled industrial equipment.
You will modify work sequences to resolve electronically controlled industrial equipment installation and repair problems.
You will perform installation of direct digital control systems (DDC) for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
You will interpret engineering drawings that combine electrical and electronic schematics, logic diagrams, and mechanical drawings to trace signal flow throughout the system while troubleshooting malfunctions of systems.
You will troubleshoot direct digital control (DDC) to initiate adjustments.
You will use computer systems to access and modify direct digital control (DDC) systems.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Universal Certification received from an EPA approved certifying program.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, to mean serve as an on-call duty mechanic on a rotational basis.
- An on-call duty mechanic is required to carry a government issued cell phone and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
- This position maybe designated as ALPHA Essential position.
- Personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations, such as but not limited to, destructive weather, disasters, or periods of an increased security threat.

The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic without more than normal supervision including:1) Installing /replacing Direct Digital Control equipment. 2)Diagnosing information from Direct Digital Control system feedback to assist air conditioning equipment mechanic in correcting malfunctions. 3)Maintaining/repairing commercial and industrial air conditioning/refrigeration systems. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
