About the Position: This position is located with the US Installation Management Command, US Army Garrison Fort Liberty, Directorate of Emergency Services, Fire Protection & Prevention Division at Ft. Liberty, NC.

Duties

Transmit requests for mutual aid through applicable Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) or emergency response jurisdictions. Relay mutual aid requests to/from the senior emergency response official. Approve requests for leave based on mission requirements. Make recommendations concerning the maintenance or replacement of equipment to ensure state-of-the-art equipment is requested. Resolve CAD hardware, software, ICIDs, CBRNE detection monitors/receivers, and program problems or errors. Maintain telephone and radio communication equipment and proficiency in dispatching appropriate emergency forces.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Incumbent is required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions or base closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time. The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
  • The incumbent is required to possess and maintain DoD Telecommunicator I and II (or equivalent) certification.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain DoD Hazmat Awareness levels and Emergency Medical Dispatch certification within 6 months of employment.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain, within 6 months of employment, a North Carolina State Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Operator Certification and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
  • This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment Drug Test Screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent is required to wear a uniform.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a certification in the Emergency Medical Priority Dispatch system.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a certification in the Emergency Police Priority Dispatch system within 6 months of employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a certification in the Emergency Fire Priority Dispatch System within 6 months of employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be responsible for attaining continuing dispatch (CDE) requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
  • The incumbent must maintain an overall compliance score of 90 percent, or better by the Advanced Quality Assurance (AQUA) software.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
