About the Position: Serves as Counter Transnational Organized Crime CD/CTOC Operations Support Officer in the Operations Directorate (J3), Defeat Threats Division (J32), CD/CTOC Branch (J326).
Duties
Coordinate with components, subordinate joint and joint interagency task forces, and United States Country Teams to develop operational resource requirements to achieve command objectives for the interdiction and disruption of illicit trafficking.
Identify emergent operational shortfalls and develop courses of action to correct and/or mitigate operational deficiencies.
Prepare the operating budget for leadership approval using general budget guidance memorandums, branch input, and historical data.
Assist in the evaluation of system performance provided by US and PN Counterdrug Command, Control, and Communications (C3) systems to ensure that data provided is as accurate and reliable as possible.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires travel away from the duty station up to 20% of the time.
- This position requires a TOP SECRET Security Clearance/Investigation.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- Required to deploy within the USSOUTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours) by multiple means of ground and air transportation, as directed by Commander USSOUTHCOM.
- Infrequent international travel required, occasionally to an austere environment where the incumbent will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions.
- Participation in the Department of Defense (DoD)/Department of the Army (DA) Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DoD/DA policy.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience providing oversight of concept development, planning, execution, and assessment of joint and interagency operations in support of United States and Partner Nation (PN) law enforcement agencies' (LEA) efforts to counter illicit trafficking (CIT); reviewing and making recommendations for improvements to operational plans and orders; ensuring compliance with all applicable Department of Defense (DoD) directives; and preparing directorate summaries and information papers for leadership. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
