Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Buckley Space Force Base (Aurora, CO) is searching for a Protocol Specialist for SBD2/CCP (NH-0301-02, GS-5/11 Equivalent).
Description:
Serve as Protocol Specialist with responsibility for planning and directing all aspects of the base protocol program on behalf of the Installation Commander. Serves as an installation expert in matters of protocol, legislative affairs and community relations for Buckley Space Force Base, a joint and interagency multi-mission environment with major tenant units including the Space Delta 4 (DEL-4), Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC), Aerospace Data Facility-Colorado (ADF-C), Air National Guard (ANG), Army National Guard (ARNG) and the Navy and Marine Corps Operational Support Center (NOSC).
Maintains the master calendar of all distinguished visitor and provides weekly updates to the commander. Meets and greets, on behalf of the commander, high ranking dignitaries upon their arrival and accompanies them throughout their visit ensuring they are accorded all honors and courtesies due based on their rank or status. Instructs others on procedures for planning and executing official military ceremonies (i.e., changes of command, promotion, retirement, as well as ribbon cutting ceremonies, social events, and conferences). Provides guidance on the preparation of invitations, scripts, programs, and seating arrangements and interfaces with subordinates and project officers throughout the planning and execution phases of protocol events.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of both civilian and military protocol, etiquette manuals and guides, USAF, USSF, and Command policies, regulations, and procedures.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of proper protocol courtesies to be accorded to distinguished visitors from both the United States and foreign governments.
3. Experience in advising leadership on protocol matters, plan and coordinate activities for general officers and distinguished civilians, evaluate methods and techniques to issues concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations, applying budgeting and accounting techniques when executing projects, and preparing correspondence, written reports and presentations for senior leaders.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for the position.

- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.
- PCS and Incentives are not authorized.
- Subject to TDY 5 days a year.
- This is a drug testing designated position.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position, and incumbent must pass the flight line driving course.
