Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Base Delta 2 at Buckley Air Force Base is searching for an Executive Director for Space Base Delta 2 (NH-0301-04, GS14/15 equivalent). Description: The Executive Director at Space Base Delta 2 (SBD 2) is a senior leadership role responsible for providing authoritative technical counsel, strategic direction, and expert guidance on program matters to all levels of government. The position oversees supervisory personnel management, program development, and organizational objectives. This role requires a high level of expertise, innovation, and the ability to navigate complex program challenges with only general guidance. Organization: SBD 2 provides installation support functions for the resident air operations, space-based missile warning capabilities, space surveillance operations, and space communications missions. It also provides Airmen and Space Professionals that deploy and are deployed in-place, to support Combatant Commanders to accomplish warfighting missions globally. SBD 2 supports a Joint, Total Force and coalition base in all but name. This includes 3,500 active-duty members from every service, 4,000 National Guard personnel and Reservists, four commonwealth international partners, 2,400 civilians, 2,500 contractors, and approximately 88,000 retirees, veterans and dependents combined. The base contributes nearly an estimated $1.4 billion annually to the local economy. SBD 2 is unique in that it supports more than 110+ base partners located both on base and in the local community. SBD 2 hosts six major base partners: Delta 4 (Missile Warning Delta), 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard (COANG); the Navy Operational Support Reserve Center; the Aerospace Data Facility-Colorado; the Army Aviation Support Facility and the Air Reserve Personnel Center. Duty 1: Supervisory Personnel Management - Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities for at least 25% of the time. - Plans, prioritizes, and schedules work for subordinates, evaluating their performance. - Provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on work and administrative matters. - Conducts interviews for positions, recommends appointments, promotions, or reassignments. - Identifies developmental and training needs, implementing improvements in production or quality. - Develops performance standards. Duty 2: Technical Counsel and Representation - Provides authoritative technical counsel to SBD 2 Commander and represents SBD 2 on program matters. - Offers corporate policy, strategic direction, and technical expertise. - Acts as an expert consultant and advisor for mission support operations. - Analyzes and interprets policies for various government agencies, advocating and negotiating on SBD 2's behalf. - Represents the SBD 2 Commander on plans, requirements, programs, and policies. - Participates in setting appropriate program goals and providing effective decisions and recommendations. Duty 3: Organizational Oversight - Plans, organizes, and oversees organizational objectives, policies, and procedures for 17 Delta Staff Agencies. - Develops goals and objectives integrating organization and SBD 2 Delta Staff objectives. - Establishes, revises, or reviews policies and procedures to eliminate barriers to mission accomplishment. - Provides direction and advice to subordinate supervisors and staff. - Balances workload, optimizes resource use, and establishes metric and analysis systems for efficiency. - Identifies the need for change in organization priorities and takes action to implement such changes. Duty 4: Representation and Relationship Building - Represents SBD 2 with various installation and functional area organizations. - Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with multiple agencies. - Meets with key customers, assesses customer satisfaction, and resolves significant problems. - Ensures subordinate units provide customer guidance and training. - Participates in special projects and initiatives, identifying the need for and initiating milestones and goals. - Evaluates reports, performs research, and determines appropriate actions or interpretations of issues impacting the organization.

  • PCS and Incentives funding is available.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • Random drug testing may be required depending upon the position being filled.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
