Qualifications
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as experience in applying environmental protection principles within organizations, functions, programs, and priorities. Experience analyzing public policy that focuses on environmental programs.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of environmental protection principles, practices and concepts.
Ability to offer expert advice on social, economic, public health and environmental issues.
Knowledge of federal regulations, policies and legislative initiatives.
Knowledge in administrative regulations and procedures.

Ability to negotiate.
Knowledge and perceptiveness of the political and social environment.
Ability to foster channels of communication with public and political stakeholders.
Skill in analyzing and developing policies.
Ability to analyze public policy issues and proposals for a broad variety of program areas.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
