This position is located in Service Center Operations Directorate, HART (Humanitarian, Adjustment, Removing Conditions, and Travel Documents) Service Center. As a Supervisory Immigration Services Officer, you will review and make case determinations and provide technical and administrative advice and assign work based on priorities.

Duties

Provide technical and administrative direction to a staff of Immigration Services Officers and support positions whose work includes customer service and the adjudication of applications and petitions. Monitor and evaluate work of support positions as well as mentor and facilitate employee development to ensure quality production and to improve the efficiency of operations. Develop new ways to resolve problems in meeting established goals and objectives for program effectiveness and compliance with pertinent and regulatory guidelines. Make adjudicative decisions, draw appropriate conclusions for cases involving novel or unprecedented issues using expert knowledge of the Immigration and Nationality Act and Administrative Appeals Office and Board of Immigration Appeals decisions. Safeguard national security and public safety by ensuring integrity of the immigration systems, provide administrative and logistical support for enforcement of activities related to the prevention of illegal entry of aliens into the United States.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/24/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/24/2024. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Developing innovative ideas to resolve problems to meet established goals and objectives for program effectiveness and legal compliance; Directing administrative and technical staff responsible in the adjudication of complex immigration applications and petitions; Making final determinations on complex immigration programs as they relate to the Immigration and Naturalization Act (e.g. Adjudications, Inspections, Investigations, and Border Protection); Writing final determinations, with legal backing, to support immigration benefits decisions; Identifying training needs and mentoring newly trained officers to ensure that training is properly applied and helping new officers develop adjudicative discretion. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer service.
