This position is located in Service Center Operations Directorate, Nebraska Service Center. As a Supervisory Immigration Services Officer, you will be supervising a group of Immigration Services Officers who are responsible for adjudicating applications & petitions for various benefits and privileges under the law.

Duties

Supervise staff responsible for adjudicating applications submitted for benefits under the law involving potential threats to national security per the Controlled Application Resolution Review Program (CARRP). Review the internal and external vetting process as it relates to terrorist/national security and public safety cases and ensure that cases involving national security concerns are identified, recorded, and adjudicated under the CARRP guidelines. Coordinate with the FBI, the DOS (Diplomatic Security Service), the JTTF, the Terrorist Screening Center, and components within DHS (HSI, ICE, CBP), for the apprehension of aliens. Conduct and oversee the planning of independent research concerning the eligibility entitlements of persons seeking immigration benefits, employment, and/or legal status under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Review and make case determinations, hearing and adjudicating appeals, and make decisions on reopening cases and on whether to reconsider cases. Assign work based on priorities, difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; set short-term priorities and completion dates; provides advice, counsel, or instruction to employees. Evaluate and establish performance expectations and assess work performance of subordinates.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 03/18/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 03/18/2024. GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to perform successfully the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Conducting National Service Center-wide evaluations of programs administered by different organizations within the agency that involve isolating, identifying, and recommending solutions to critical problems affecting the administration of important national programs and the attainment of agency program goals and objectives. Managing a staff that implements and incorporates regulations that conform to agency policy, legal and technical requirements. Analyzing and implementing issues related to the establishment of program goals and objectives. Establishing long-range work plans and determining the actions necessary to accomplish these objectives.
