About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.

Duties

Configure, install, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot all classified and unclassified enterprise level Endpoint Security Solution (ESS) firewalls, anti-virus and intrusion detection... ...systems to ensure that the operating system(s) for each device is configured properly, and the security features are properly set according to the network security policy. Monitor McAfee and Windows Operating system logs for utilization, unauthorized access or other security violations and reports suspected security violations to the designated security manager and higher headquarters as required. Develop policies and procedures to ensure information system reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data Analyze potential and real threats and vulnerabilities affecting networks through system utilization reports, firewall software, IDS systems and any other software tracking system and maintains complete audit trails. Publish guidance and requirements for maintaining effective firewalls and the IDS systems. Provide network operation, administration and management of a variety of systems and infrastructure equipment in support of the Wireless security program.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• Position is designated Special-Sensitive requiring the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Special Background Investigation (SBI) and be eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• This position is subject to random drug testing IAW AR 600-85.
• This position has been designated mission essential, requiring the employee to remain on duty or make every effort to report to duty during mission critical periods determined by management.
• Incumbent may be issued and held accountable for one or more of the following; cellular phone, technical equipment, and/or government travel card to conduct official business.
• The incumbent may be required to work overtime, other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and call-back, and emergency shift work.
• May be required to work shift work if the organization moves to a 24/7 operation.
• May be required to carry a cellular telephone/Portable Electronic Device (PED) and maintain a working personal telephone at all times.
• Driver’s license is required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to supported facilities or regionally support sites.
• Nondisclosure Agreement: This position requires access to classified information. Incumbent of the position will be required to complete a Standard Form (SF) 312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA).
