Duties
Install portable aviation fueling facilities in locations where commercial fuel is not available and perform inspections, testing, and maintenance on fueling equipment. Demobilize sites upon closure.
Sample and test aviation fuels to assure that clean, dry "on specification" fuel of the appropriate type will be supplied to user aircraft. Respond to incidents such as leaks or failures and perform repairs or replacements.
Operate fueling trucks, fueling pumps, meters and filters. Operate Fuel Tenders up to 5,000 gallon capacity as well as articulating all terrain forklifts up to 20,000 lb capacity.
Maintain the fuel shop and refurbish fuel handling equipment after use. This includes the rebuilding and performance testing of pumps, filters, meters, kits, hoses, storage tanks, containment dikes, etc.
Keep records on requests for fuel and fuel handling equipment, location and status of equipment, and verify fuel billing. Provide training to personnel performing work at fueling facilities.
Requirements

- Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.

- This position requires regular and recurring overtime and shift work.
- You must be 18 years of age or older to be assigned to a hazardous position.
- You must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Class A or B with hazmat and tank endorsements.
- May require a one year probationary period.
- This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. You will be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use and pass prior to appointment. This position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift training certification and license.
- Must maintain a current 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training Certification and attend annual refresher.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a current Army Hazardous Waste Subject Matter Expert certification.
Qualifications
Screen-out Element: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision as evidenced by having received and dispensed bulk fuel and having inspected fuel handling equipment for quality assurance and serviceability. You must also have either a Class A or B CDL with hazmat and tank endorsements.
OPM Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations will be used in determining your qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials, that you possess the skill level that has equipped you with the particular job elements to successfully perform the duties of Fuel Distribution System Worker without more than normal supervision.

Physical Demands: Work involves walking long distances over rough terrain carrying a backpack and/or equipment up to 100 pounds and driving in all types of traffic and weather.
Work Environment: Work is accomplished indoors and out, day or night, in all weather conditions, in any location of the State. The work is dirty, dusty, and greasy, wet, hot, cold, or any combination. You may frequently be exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, working from ladders, or injury. You will camp and live in remote and primitive conditions, to include sleeping in a tent and preparing your own food, while doing fieldwork for up to 28 days per month. Will fly to remote areas of Alaska via various types of fixed wing and rotor wing aircraft in all types of weather. You may be required to carry and use a firearm or bear repellant spray for protection from bears and other dangerous animals.
