About the position: This position will be assigned to the High Desert Inn.The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, alteration, and improvement of buildings, upkeep of grounds, utility systems, and motor vehicles located at The High Desert Inn.
Duties
Performs duties in a variety of trades; carpentry, minor electrical work, plumbing, painting, and related trades.
Controls keys, key storage, and distribution for 55 Lodging facilities.
Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs computerized equipment associated with keyless entry system.
Determines if repair is minor or major and requires commercial repair.
Hangs pictures and other wall ornaments.
Repairs/replaces blinds, draperies, curtain rods, and rod holders.
Assembles furniture and equipment as required.
Removes old paint by sanding or scraping.
Paints doors, walls, cabinets, room dividers, etc.
Performs plumbing functions such as clearing stopped or sluggish drains, replacing washer and tightening screws on fittings or faucets.
Replaces and/or repairs table tops, table legs, broken furniture, door locks, sliding doors, bed frames, etc.
Loads and unloads furniture, equipment, and supplies.
Re-glues wallpaper, floor tiles, carpeting, cove base, replaces broken ceiling tile.
Occasionally builds shelves, bed slats and boards.
Makes measurements, cuts wood, and assembles.
Removes and replaces minor electrical items such as changing fuses or wall plugs/light covers as necessary.
Performs minor repairs and maintenance on small appliances.
Accomplishes necessary setup and cleanup, storage of tools and materials, and loading of equipment incident to the performance of duties.
Operates up to two and one-half (5,000 lb) NAF vehicle(s) when picking ups supplies.
Performs minor maintenance on vehicle(s), maintains vehicle log(s) and cleans vehicle(s).
Uses a computer to: log and track maintenance items; Epitome/LTS system; create, update, and maintain spreadsheets.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete pre-employment Drug Testing and you will be subject to random testing during your employment.
- This position can be assigned Shift Work including days, nights, weekends, holidays, family down days.
- Must have valid Drivers License and clean driving record.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete pre-employment Physical Exam.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have general knowledge of carpentry, painting, and general maintenance experience, or a directly related area which provides knowledge of kinds of work performed.
Must have a working knowledge of various hand and power tools.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to operate up to two and one-half ton (5,000 lb) truck.
Must be able to meet all physical requirements prescribed in the position description and must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI) and pre-employment physical.
This position is a drug testing designated position (TDP). Incumbent is subject to random screening for drug use.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
