The position is located in the Office of Private Sector Exchange, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA/EC). The incumbent provides expert operational and advisory support to the Director and the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Private Sector Exchange on increasing internal/external awareness of the Exchange Visitor Program (EVP), and exercises responsibility for the oversight, coordination, and liaison for outreach activities affecting ECA/EC offices.

Duties

Provides advice to Office personnel and others on strategies for effective traditional and internet media outreach and conducting liaison activities, e.g., conference presentation, public outreach, and communications with EVP stakeholders. Establishes and maintains relationships with the general public, key officials, agency stakeholders, and/or community groups to disseminate EVP information which results in a greater understanding of the agency's mission and activities. Coordinates reproduction of written materials and ensures compliance with pertinent regulations and style manuals. Develops content and collaborates with the ECA web team to upload pertinent EVP data.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements, including education and any selective placement factors described below by the closing date of this announcement. If you are qualifying based on education OR if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience developing oral and written internal and external communications products. Experience providing advice and/or recommendations to improve media coverage and strengthen public understanding of a program. Experience coordinating staff conferences and appearances at public events. Experience capturing and highlighting program successes with the public. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
