You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the SEA RANGE SYSTEMS DIVISION, POINT MUGU SEA RANGE DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV POINT MUGU.

Duties

You will utilize procedures to ensure acceptable levels of workmanship and equipment have been used in the modification, repair and maintenance of optical, telemetry and photo systems, sub-systems, and support equipment. You will ensure that corrective actions are initiated to conform work practices and materials to established standard operating procedures, checklists, specifications and adherence to Quality Assurance requirements. You will perform sample inspections and conduct quarterly audits of Deployed Systems work centers to ensure conformance with Naval Maintenance Standards and Specifications and compliance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program. You will report changes to prescribed inspection techniques/stages, work practices, safety measures, etc.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPs) Training.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate duties related to the following: 1) Performing oversight on all maintenance and calibration of Airborne Cast Glance, Telemetry and Photo Systems; 2) Troubleshooting complex electronic systems using schematics, and electronic measurement devices; 3) Working with system engineers, and technicians to establish probable causes of failure; 4) Analyzing specific maintenance requirements, and assigning team members to troubleshoot, calibrate, and perform equipment maintenance.
