You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (AIRCRAFT) in the Aviation Readiness and Contract Logistics (N4) Division, Plans and Policies Branch (CN4210) CHIEF of NAVAL AIR TRAINING of CNATRA.

Duties

You will manage, analyze, develop, direct and implement aircraft and engine maintenance plans and policies for one or more of CNATRA's training aircraft fleets and their respective engines. You will review and analyze daily and monthly report and records covering all aspects of aircraft and engine readiness to determine maintenance and logistics support requirements. You will monitor aircraft maintenance contractor performance to validate data, identify problems, deficiencies, capabilities and needs. You will direct the transfer and receipt of all assigned aircraft and engines assigned both within and to commands outside of CNATRA. You will conduct performance reviews and site visits to ensure that facilities, aircraft and engines are available and maintained in a proper, efficient and safe manner. You will assess program effectiveness or investigate and analyze a variety of unusual conditions or problems. You will participate in and chair a variety of evaluations, review boards and conferences designated to assess progress in attaining and maintaining adequate propulsion systems for Naval Air Training Command (NATRACOM) aircraft. You will develop detailed briefs for presentations up-line to managers and senior leadership, including Flag Officers, concerning issues and problems associated with CNATRA’s fleet of aircraft as well as the respective engine fleet.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning and coordinating equipment requirements for aircraft maintenance operations to support engine repairs and/or make recommendations for equipment modifications for an aviation program.. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D or equivalent graduate degree;
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
