You will serve as a WARRIOR & FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM SPECIALIST in the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Reserve Comp Great Lakes, Warrior/ Family Support (N00F), of NAVRESREDCOM MIDWEST, of NAVRESREDCOM MIDWEST.

Duties

You will be responsible for assessing and providing an array of healthcare-related quality of life issues and personal administrative support for Returning Warrior Reservists and their family members. You will be responsible for working with Ombudsmen and providing support to Navy Reserve personnel and their families within their area of responsibility (AOR). You will be responsible for performing on-site visits to activities within the AOR to evaluate the effectiveness of the Warrior and Family Readiness Programs. You will be responsible for participating and overseeing the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of all Family Readiness Programs within the AOR.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience having a working knowledge with families, commands, and community support programs to include Information and Referral, Personal Financial Management, Family Advocacy Program, Transition Assistance Management Program, Personal/Family Counseling, Retired Affairs, Exceptional Family Member Program, Relocation Assistance and Deployment Support. Experience implementing budgetary procedures to sufficiently manage program funding. Experience providing instructions to Ombudsmen on Warrior and Family Support issues, policies and procedures. Experience performing on-site visits to activities withing the area of responsibility (AOR) to evaluate the effectiveness of programs such as the Warrior and Family Readiness Program. Experience providing guidance and overseeing the planning, execution, and analysis of events within the AOR including events such as conferences and workshops for pre-deployment and military returning. Basic Requirements required by OPM

  • Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. -OR-
  • Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. -OR-
  • Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
