You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY NON-MEDICAL CLINCIAL COUNSELOR in the Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), Fleet and Family Readiness Department of NAVSTA GREAT LAKES IL. This is an interdisciplinary position which may be filled by any of the following series: CLINICAL COUNSELOR (0101), PSYCHOLOGIST (0180), SOCIAL WORKER (0185).

Duties

You will conduct screenings, assessments, and treatment referrals to evaluate the specific level of treatment of the patient. You will develop short-term solution to focus on the psychological and counseling needs of the clients in crisis situations. You will devise a workable treatment plan (e.g., individual counseling, family counseling, referral for in client treatment) to provide required treatment.

  • The incumbent must meet the qualification requirements for Tier II clinical providers described in SECNAVINST 1754.8, “Credentials Review and Clinical Privileging of Clinical Providers within Department of the Navy Family Readiness Program”.
  • Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age of 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so, and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records.
  • This position requires routine on-site access to government facilities. The incumbent may perform the required tasks at an off-site location for situational telework only.
  • The incumbent will be required to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing social/human services in accordance with state, federal and municipal human service laws, programs, polices and directives; 2) Counseling and interviewing clients to identify concerns and determine appropriate referral service/options; 3) Working with community social service delivery systems; 4) Applying organizational and management techniques to direct complex social services programs; 5) Conducting domestic abuse (child and spouse) assessments and complete documentation for multidisciplinary (medical, legal, community agencies); 6) Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws governing mandated reporting of child and spouse abuse; 7) Maintaining case records, treatment plans, and statistics in accordance with state policy in order to ensure proper treatment and follow-up is provided. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:
Successful completion of a behavioral or social science degree
OR
a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled
OR
a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR
four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
