You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPBUILDING) in the VIRGINIA CLASS PROJECT OFFICE of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON.

Duties

You will conduct reviews (of ship and/or system specifications, contract plans, HMR's, FMR's, etc) for the planning of government support and control actions necessary for the administration of assigned programs. You will control all phases associated with the construction, alteration, and modernization of all submarines or projects assigned. You will maintain daily contact with the assigned contractor ship coordinators in order to monitor progress of shipboard work and keep abreast of and coordinate resolution of daily problems that have potential impact on schedules. You will Interface with both internal and external stakeholders to discuss other construction status, build strategy, and other concerns.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Monitoring contractor performance or activities to ensure compliance with established schedules, requirements, or production control milestones in support of projects for the construction of submarines. For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing contractor production control issues to recommend corrective actions in support of projects for the construction of submarines. Education

In lieu of specialized experience at the GS-11, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;
OR
Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree;
OR
Successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled;
OR
Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
