Duties

Serves as an Instructor for the SKIES Unlimited program. Develop lessons plans- curriculum including objectives, skill median, supply list and indicated learning objectives of each session following Red Cross swim safe and Army CYS standards. Provide instructions using a variety of techniques and interventions based on the age, skill level and learning style of each child. Provide recommendations in scheduling, class offering (following ratios) and equipment/materials purchase to supervisor. Maintains control of and accounts for the participant's safety. Keep attendance to date by checking roll at the beginning of every class session. Check phone and email addresses to ensure Child and Youth Management Systems (CYMS) is current. Demonstrate MWR Customer Service elements when working with parents, students, coworkers, and supervisors. Complete all Army, MWR and CYS training requirements.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/physical/background requirements for this position.
• Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
• A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
• Successful completion of annual training requirements within the prescribed time frame and demonstrated on the job competence is required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

1. Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate. 2. Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal). 3. Be 18 years of age at the time of appointment. 4. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop and stand on a routine basis. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors. 5. Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease. 6. Demonstrated skill/evidence of competence in instructional area of swimming. Highly Preferred are those candidates who possess a Professional Certificates/Credentials; or Associates Degree or higher with 15 semester hours of college credit in the area of swim instruction.
