Duties

Serve as an installation Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment Victim Advocate. Maintain support and follow-up contact with sexual assault/sexual harassment victims throughout the lifecycle of the case. Assist the installation SARC in the development and delivery of comprehensive sexual assault/sexual harassment training. Represent the SAPR installation program both military and civilian agencies.

  • This position requires a high degree of discretion in relation to sensitive information of which the incumbent is aware.
  • This position has been identified as a position of public trust IAW DOD policy. Minimum of a Tier 3 background investigation must be conducted every 5 years IAW the OPM requirement.
  • Must obtain and maintain DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification and recertification from the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA), as specified in DoD and AF policy.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Social Science Series, 0101 Basic Qualification Requirement: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Or four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education. EDUCATION: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have, or will have within 120 days of closing of this announcement, will have 52 weeks (one year) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower broadband (NH-01) equivalent to next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal service. An example of creditable specialized experience includes: a diverse knowledge of accepted practices and procedures associated with victim advocacy, social services delivery systems, principles, and behavioral theories relating to victim advocacy, sexual assault/sexual harassment, and other acts of interpersonal violence; performing crisis intervention, safety planning, referral, ongoing non-clinical support in serious and complicated cases; conducting assessments of individuals to determine required needs and evaluating safety and levels of risks exercising authoritative judgment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of social science and social work principles, concepts, and practices relating to victim advocacy and prevention of and response to sexual assault/sexual harassment. Knowledge of laws, regulations, executive orders, issues, etc., to include the Air Force organizational structure, management policies, methods, and practices relating to sexual assault/sexual harassment victim advocacy, and related interpersonal violence. Knowledge of social service delivery systems, methods, and theories relating to victim advocacy, sexual assault/sexual harassment Knowledge of training and education techniques to implement and deliver sexual assault/sexual harassment training. Skill in applying tact and diplomacy during interactions with internal and external officials during difficult and sensitive circumstances and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with organizations and individuals to identify, establish, modify and provide victim support/assistance. Ability to employ various methods and techniques typical of a sexual assault/sexual harassment victim advocate program, including crisis intervention, situational assessment, and analyzing the needs of the victim to provide support and/or assistance to them in the resolution of complex problems. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
