Qualifications
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level defined as defined as coordinating briefings or preparation sessions related to Congressional procedures, inquiries, or actions; and reviewing or making recommendations on responses to Congressional correspondence.
To qualify for the GS-14 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level defined as defined as coordinating briefings or preparation sessions related to Congressional procedures, inquiries, or actions; advising senior leadership on legislation; and reviewing or making recommendations on responses to Congressional correspondence.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to environmental statutes.
Ability to advise on legislative procedures, affairs and actions.
Ability to plan, organize and negotiate effectively with others to accept and implement recommendations.
Ability to keep management informed about potential activities of significance to the Agency’s programs.
Skill in oral and written communication sufficient to brief on issues of national interest.
Ability to coordinate, track and review draft responses to Congressional correspondence.
Skill in project management.
Ability to facilitate resolution of any conflicting viewpoints or positions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
