As a Motor Vehicle Operator (Installer) in Environmental Management Service (EMS), you will receive assignments that support the need of EMS and the Medical Center. You will work under the supervision of the Interior Designer and act as lead coordinator and driver for planned and unplanned furniture and other related moves from one location to another throughout the facility. The incumbent coordinates all incoming furniture deliveries and moves with the management staff and Interior Designer.
Duties

Inventories, installs, assembles, disassembles, relocates, delivers, or makes minor repairs to modular and free-standing furniture, shelving, equipment, litters, desks, chairs, tables, file cabinets, and related furniture. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Install, remove and inventory of complex systems furniture, prepare wall surfaces for the installation of furniture track and secure wall hangings.
Installs, assembles, disassembles, relocates, delivers, or makes minor repairs to modular and free-standing furniture, shelving, equipment, litters, desks, chairs, tables, file cabinets, and related furniture.
Install, framed material, clock, coat racks, mirrors, bathroom fixtures; installs bulletin boards, tack strips, and chalkboards.
Incumbent will have ability to use computer to include data input into LEAF and Excel, develop, edit, and maintain spreadsheets of used furniture inventories, storage and move furniture, etc.
Moving, installing, and uninstalling complex furniture systems and fixtures, maintenance and repair of complex furniture systems, on-the-job training, learning new concepts and procedures and cross training of similar or lower grades.
Minor maintenance and interior design program tasks to ensure quality workmanship and customer satisfaction on a daily basis.
Plan and measure material according to requirements and dimensions outlined in instructions and blueprints.
Install, designs, makes, and repairs signs.
The incumbent picks up deliver and assembles, disassembles, and (in some cases) reassembles various types of furnishings.
Coordinates storage of furniture and equipment in designated areas arranged by management and the Interior Designer.
Incumbent also picks up and delivers furniture from the Warehouse, North Las Vegas VA Medical Center, and the Primary Care Clinics (PCCs) which are located throughout the Las Vegas valley encompassing 100 miles in distance.
Operates and performs operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks and cargo vans which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 4,500 kilograms (10,000 pounds} and up to 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds}.
May operate platform, van or stake trucks and cargo vans to pick up and deliver materials, furniture, and equipment.
Incumbent maneuvers vehicles over uneven terrain, over improved or unimproved roads, and through congested areas exercising caution when backing to load or unload at docks, ramps, and similar locations.
The incumbent prepares inventory reports, oversees the receiving and logging of all incoming stock/furniture.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent must be able to work at various heights, such as working from ladders. The physical demands of the position require frequent heavy lifting of equipment, materials, and movement of furniture is required along with the stamina to perform heavy physical labor. The incumbent shall be frequently required to lift objects weighing over forty (40) pounds and occasionally lift objects weighing over ninety (90) pounds. Continuous walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting and physical effort is required in the performance of the manual tasks described: such as chairs, desks, file cabinets, bookcases, sofas, movement of furniture and or equipment dollies and hand trucks may be required. Items heavier than 8 kilograms (40 pounds) are moved with appropriate weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. In addition, greater physical effort is needed at this level to maneuver the longer and heavier vehicles, especially when backing these vehicles.
Assignments may be performed under all weather conditions performed indoors and outside subject to dust, welding fumes, various construction fumes, and noise. Incumbent will be required to drive a motor vehicle, and will be regularly exposed to dust, exhaust fumes, smog, and traffic noise. In addition, incumbent is frequently exposed to congested and slow-moving traffic conditions.
Incumbent is continually on the alert to avoid injuries from hand or powered tools. Incumbent may be exposed to eye and skin injury from flying debris and will be required to wear protective gear to reduce the risk of injury. In addition, incumbent will be required to wear ear plugs, safety glasses, protective gloves, masks, and back braces when needed. Assignments may require work being completed in high noise levels and can involve some contact with adhesives that may be related to moves.
Work may require wearing personal protective equipment and will be provided, such as hardhats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, work gloves masks, aprons.
