The Motor Vehicle Operator position is organizationally located within the Support Services Section of Facility Management Service. The incumbent operates and maintains the Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) vehicle fleet. The incumbent is responsible for the reproduction of materials for distribution, processing and distribution of material received from the Publications Depot, and receiving and distribution of mail.
Duties
Major duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Operating vans to pick up and deliver materials and equipment through congested areas, exercising caution when loading and unloading.
Adhering to all State, local and facility traffic laws and ordinances while driving on public and feral roads at controlled speeds to ensure the passengers safety.
Transporting patients and visiting dignitaries to McCarran International Airport for dispatch to other VA Medical Centers (VAMCs).
Ensuring Service Organization vehicles are maintained in good working conditions daily.
Forwarding incoming mail for VA patients who are no longer hospitalized at the MOFH and providing change of address information tot the USPS when necessary.
Reviewing mail as it is being processed to determined the most cost effective way to send individual items.
Maintaining Fund Control Point (FCP) 088 for the Mail Management Program .
Determining the status of postage funds on mail meter and initiating VA Form 7-2237 for additional funds.
Delivering the mail meter to the USPS to have postage entered or, when requested, for inspection.
Maintaining Mail Room security to avoid unauthorized access to confidential information routed through the mail area and eliminate unauthorized use of the VA postage equipment.
