About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) - Military Personnel Division, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.

Duties

The incumbent serves as the Chief, Personnel Services Branch, Military Personnel Services Division, Directorate of Human Resources (DHR). The incumbent supervises Personnel Actions, Promotions, Enlisted/Officer Records, IPPS-A , AWOL/DFR, Awards, In and Out-Processing, and the Records Review Tool. The incumbent serves as the Retirement Services Officer. The incumbent directs an assortment of related work operations and functions within the Military Personnel Services Division.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Requires one year supervisory probationary period.
  • Requires a secret security clearance.
  • Mission Essential Employees: These employees are expected to remain in contact with their supervisors at all times during and closure situation and may be called to work. Examples would include weather situations or furlough.
  • Designated Key Position: This position has been identified as being a Key Position under the provisions of AR 690-11, Mobilization Planning and Management.
  • A Key position is defined as any Army position that cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of their organization to function effectively.
  • Because of the essential nature of these positions, the Secretary of the Army, designee, shall designate such positions as Key positions and shall require that they not be filled by Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations.
  • Prior to occupying the position, Civilians must be exempted from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: LeadershipManaging Human ResourcesPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
