About the Position: You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation). Responsibilities include processing a wide variety of clerical and military personnel actions for the organization at Bassett Army Community Hospital, located on Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Duties

Update tracking systems to monitor military personnel actions and ensure timely completion. Review personnel actions and documents to support in-processing or out-processing of Service Members Speak with customers to explain policies or answer general inquiries. Use a personal computer database software to input, track, and retrieve data. Maintain accountability files to comply with Army directives and regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires the skills of a fully qualified typist (40 WPM).
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • A pre-employment physical is required, carrying and lifting up to 70 pounds.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Human Resources Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Manages and Organizes InformationMilitaryPersonnel Action Processing and Recordkeeping Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
