About the Position: Serves as the Public Affairs Officer for the Public Health Command-Pacific (PHC-P) with responsibilities for planning and coordinating the dissemination of information relating to PHC-P and its subordinate organizations' objectives by analyzing and executing the best method to convey the Commander's vision and intent. This position is located at Tripler Army Medical Center, HI.
Duties
Serves as the principal staff advisor to the Brigade and staff principals on all matters involving public issues and the creation of communication policy.
Technically and administratively supervise PAO staff and uses appropriate discretion when assigning work, based on expertise and staffing levels.
Operates as the primary liaison between the agency and news media by fulfilling the role of the official spokesperson to inform and educate external audiences about the organization's mission, programs and accomplishments.
Plans implements and oversees effective internal information programs through the PHC-P Website and as the Webmaster and Social Media Manager.
Requirements

- Able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning public affairs operations; drafting news releases and statements; managing web and social media content; providing researched responses to media inquiries; and identifying communication needs as they relate to programs and policies for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Applicants with training through the Defense Information School (DINFOS) is preferred, but not required.
