This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located in Ft Walker, VA.
Duties
Develop and administer in-service law enforcement training for all federal police officers and military police.
Prepare and present training courses in a variety of subjects (for example, impaired driver recognition, radar operator, breath test operator, offense reporting system, firearms, military police certification, etc.).
Perform a full range of police operations duties as a Federal Police Officer.
Enforce laws, rules, regulations and Uniform Code of Military Justice. Resolve violations/offenses; and conduct preliminary investigations.
Exercise arrest authority; searches and detains suspects; takes charge of emergency situations IAW established operating procedures; makes arrests and performs booking procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position requires law enforcement certification and completion of the Department of the Army Civilian Police (DACP)/U.S. Army Military Police Law Enforcement Academy within the first year of employment, IAW 190-56.
- This position has a requirement to obtain and maintain an Individual Reliability Program certification IAW AR 190-56. Are you willing to obtain and maintain an Individual Reliability Program certification as required.
- This position requires that you complete and successfully pass an initial weapons qualification test and semi-annually throughout the length of the appointment.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- The incumbent of this position must maintain qualification, certification and/or operational knowledge of the following: National Criminal Information Center, Breathalyzer, Incident Command System, Army Law Enforcement Reporting and Tracking System.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) experience applying a knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and 2) experience maintaining order and protecting life and property. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Experience with preparing and conducting law enforcement training is desired.
