This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located at the DIRECTORATE OF INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Duties
Visually inspect surface to see if it is properly prepared for painting
Prepare surface for painting and mask areas that do not require painting
Touch up spots or segments with hand brush.
Adhere to instructions on applying paints/thinners and mixing coating.
Make various adjustments of spray equipment to obtain different applications.
Operate compressed air spray equipment and gun to apply prime and final coats of paint.
Apply stencils utilizing work orders or drawings
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be willing to undergo pre- employment and annual physicals.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Required to be certified in the Respiratory Protection Program.
- Must be willing to participate in shift work.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Painting Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I can prepare a variety of surfaces for painting, use different techniques to create the finished product needed, and use different tools such as wire brushes, paint brushes and rollers, spray guns, putty knives and sandpaper. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

PHYSICAL EFFORT Work requires long periods of standing, frequent bending and lifting. Items vary in shape and may weigh 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside and occasionally outside in hot, cold, damp, humid, or chilling or dry atmospheric conditions. Employee must be subject to cuts, bruises, and abrasions. Exposed to constant noise, dust, fumes, gases, solvents, grease, and oils. Works on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, around objects and on vehicles, and ladders. Works closely with others or alone. Safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing and respiratory protection are required.
Education
Some Federal positions allow the substitution of education for experience. For this position, you must qualify based on experience alone.
