About the Position: This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with the Directorate of Missile and Aerospace Readiness (DMAR).
Duties
Perform paint preparation to surfaces and painting duties to support ammunition activities.
Handle and dispose of hazardous material in accordance with safety requirements.
Apply markings to ammunition and missiles by use of stencils or rubber stamps as required by specifications and drawings.
Perform maintenance on painting and other related equipment.
Operate gas/electric forklifts and motor vehicles to transport missiles and/or components
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- Business travel/temporary duty (TDY) may be required up to 15% of the time.
- Mobility Agreement required to assigned areas world-wide to support the mission.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968; persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible.
- Ammunition certification in accordance with AMC-R 350-4 is required within one year of appointment.
- Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Screening in accordance with AR 190-11 required initially and annually.
- Pre-employment and annual physical examinations required.
- Position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Lifting requirement up to 40 lbs.
- Position requires the incumbent to maintain a state driver’s license.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
- This is a temporary position scheduled to last one year and may be extended up to 3 years.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Painter without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Painter duties such as painting ammunition, missiles, and related hardware; preparing surfaces to include scraping, sanding, and cleaning; and applying markings by use of stencils or stamps as required by specifications. Using spray guns, paint brushes, and measuring instruments; and operating motor vehicles. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Required to exert heavy physical effort in continuous handling of objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Required to perform stooping, bending, crawling, and/or standing eight to ten hours per day.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside at missile assembly show area, inside paint spray booths, and outside in unheated igloos or magazines. Subject to frequent exposure to cold, heat, noise, dirt, grease, and fumes. May be required to wear protective clothing and is required to wear safety shoes and glasses. Danger to self due to exposure to unusually hazardous agents is compensated for in accordance with provisions of environmental pay regulations. Majority of work is performed on concrete floors.
