As a Program Coordinator for Graduate Medical Education (GME) at the NIH Clinical Center (CC), you will be responsible for ensuring the effective operations of the ACGME-accredited and Non-Standard (nonaccredited) residency and fellowship programs. You will work to meet the needs and policies of NIH, the NIH CC, and the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and to maintain the continued accreditation of the GME programs under the Sponsoring Institution, the NIH CC.
Duties
As a GS-0301-12 Program Coordinator, your duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Providing GME programmatic guidance and direction to NIH GME training program directors and coordinators in concert with the DIO.
Employing and adapting qualitative and quantitative approaches to resolve programmatic issues to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of GME operations, the activities of the GMEC and its subcommittees, and the engagement of the sponsoring institution (NIH CC) with GME programs.
Ensuring compliance of NIH sponsoring institutions' individual training programs with ACGME accreditation requirements and federal regulations by assisting the DIO in annually reviewing all documentation submitted from programs and providing feedback to them.
Collaborating with affiliated training sites to develop master affiliation agreements with input from the NIH Office of General Counsel; ensuring tracking and updating these agreements to be current.
Providing assistance and support for site visits by ACGME, which can include the Sponsoring Institution, individual programs for initial or continuing accreditation, program visits for cause and Clinical Learning Environment (CLER) reviews.
Working with the Executive Director, Graduate Medical Education, and the Chair, of the trans-NIH Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), to prepare agendas and assemble relevant documents for monthly GMEC meetings, taking the minutes of the meetings and following up on administrative issues identified at the meetings.
The incumbent is under closer supervision and receives more detailed instructions at GS-11 level. As the incumbent progresses, the amount of supervision will gradually be reduced. This position has a full performance level of GS-12.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a Program Coordinator, GS-0301 position at the GS-11 level, you must have:
A. completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related;
OR
B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: assisting in the administration or evaluation of a Graduate Medical Education (GME) program; interpreting the impact of regulations and policies on administrative programs; planning, analyzing, and evaluating priorities in support of Graduate Medical Education operational requirements; participating in the development and implementation of plans for organizational projects and initiatives; and reviewing information and developing analytical reports with recommendations;
OR
C. a combination of post baccalaureate education related to the position and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
In order to qualify for a Program Coordinator, GS-0301 position at the GS-12 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: evaluating Graduate Medical Education (GME) program efficiency and effectiveness; preparing comprehensive reports on health care education or training programs; formulating and executing action plans to respond to business and management problems or initiatives in health care education or training programs; interpreting accreditation standards or requirements for health care education or training programs; measuring the effectiveness of a health care education or training program.
