You will serve as a SERVICES SHOP SUPERVISOR I in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will recommend new equipment, tools, and the relocation of equipment. You will maintain records of trainees, such as apprentice progress records. You will ascertain that materials and equipment are properly stored and safeguarded. You will enforce safety, fire, and other regulations, and maintain good housekeeping in work areas.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: *Interprets blueprints accompanying job orders, and/as required, prepares layouts, patterns, and sketches. *Estimates and requisitions tools, materials, and equipment needed. *Plans division of workload among employees, based of capabilities of assigned and available employees, materials, equipment, on weather conditions, and shift in priority of projects. *Assigns work to subordinates either by oral or written instructions. *Secures, issues, oversees, and advises on the use of safety equipment.
