You will serve as a Composite Fabricator in the MRO Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will disassemble, overhaul, repair, replace and modify miscellaneous aircraft composite assemblies and/or parts. You will evaluate structural damage to determine if repair can be performed at the FRC at which located, or whether more in-depth overhaul is required. You will determine production methods, operational sequences and improvises production aids as required. You will provide technical assistance to shop personnel. You will investigate shop technical problems affecting production and apply corrective action, working with Engineer support personnel, as required.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1)Fabricating, assembling, and repairing primary and secondary aircraft structures such as main rotor blades, tail rotor blades, floorboards, primary flight control surfaces, and structural panels utilizing advanced composite materials; 2) Developing and coordinating repair for each replacement ply of a laminate to be repaired; 3) Using flat patterns to cut individual plies from a variety of unidirectional advanced composite materials; and 4) Analyzing damage to critical flight components to determine types of repair configuration to be utilized. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
