Duties

Manage and coordinate a significant segment of the Installation's environmental program. Direct environmental protection programs to include Sampling and Analysis program and Hazardous Waste Compliance Inspections. Conduct on-site and off-site surveillance audits Review plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of projects for procurement by contract in support of the environmental program. Serve as staff instructor for the Environmental Hazardous Waste Training Program. Identity training needs of Fort Stewart civilian and military personnel. Serve as the installation's technical specialist for the program areas under his/her jurisdiction in contacts with other federal agencies. Negotiate mitigation plans and provides advice on a variety of difficult compliance issues. Develop or oversee the development of various environmental reports and other documents relating to assigned program areas. Implement and evaluate environmental protection programs to include Hazardous Waste Disposal, Tracking and Storage programs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification and Landfill Certification.
  • Must acquire and maintain a Class C commercial driver's license with hazardous materials endorsement.
