Position is with U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Public Safety Officers' Benefits (PSOB) Office. BJA's mission is to provide leadership and services in grant administration and criminal justice policy development to support state, local, and tribal justice strategies to achieve safer communities.
Duties
Develops, reviews and maintains national awards programs, and related materials for accuracy and effectiveness, prepares documentation related to the awards programs, including memorandums, controlled correspondence and standard operating procedures.
Assists in the preparation of program related correspondence, solicitation content, reports and written analyses on initiatives with impact on Public Safety Officers' Benefits (PSOB) and awards programs.
Prepares substantive PSOB and awards program documentation for leadership review and action.
Research and draft communications PSOB inquiries regarding all aspects of the PSOB Program and national awards programs.
Reviews and updates national award program materials and systems to ensure that required nomination periods are met.
Responds accordingly to necessary functions and special assignments.
Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Worked on special projects with program issues that contained complicating elements requiring the adaptation of analytical techniques and evaluation criteria for the measurement and improvement of a death, disability, or education benefits program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity.
Researched and drafted death, disability or education benefit policy resources and other communications in response to inquiries from claimants.
Informed others on complex policy issues or problems that impacted well established programs or facets of large, complex death, disability, or education benefits projects and programs.
Researched or analyzed uncommon or complex death, disability, or education benefit issues.
Technical Qualifications:
Applicants who meet the basic entry and minimum qualification requirements, as described above, will be further evaluated on the following technical qualifications:
Analyze organizational and operational problems and develop solutions.
Provide guidance on business and program management issues.
Provide guidance on death, disability, education benefits, or claim program issues.
Plan and execute work.
Advise on death, disability, or education benefits program management principles concepts, and methods.
Written Communication.
