We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.
Duties
The Special Events Coordinator position is located within the Special Event
Section (SES), Coordination Division, Command and Coordination Bureau. SES is
responsible for coordinating special events, demonstrations, and VIP access
with affected elements of the Department. SES personnel processes applications
for permits that involve regulated activities on U.S. Capitol Grounds,
coordinates access to VIP meetings with Members of Congress. Attends meetings
regarding events on and off the capitol complex.
Qualifications
All applicants must meet the following eligibility
factors in order to be considered for the position of Special Events
Coordinator: Must be a USCP officer below the rank of Sergeant; have successfully completed
your probationary period; and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC)
with three (3) years total after graduation from the academy by the closing
date of this announcement. Must not be in restricted leave status as of the date of selection. Must be in full and unrestricted duty status as of the selection date unless
otherwise authorized by law (e.g., performance of duty injury, Family and
Medical Leave Act (FMLA), or Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment
Rights Act (USERRA)). Must be available to work flexible hours and rotating shifts. Must be flexible to work outside normal duty hours to address coordination
duties with identified deadlines, as assigned. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to work closely with supervisors, peers, and all other USCP
employees, regardless of rank or title in addition to other members of the congressional
community. Must maintain the necessary skill set required for a Special Events Coordinator
through training.
