Duties

WHAT IS THE RPO - RETURN PREPARER OFFICEDIVISION? A description of the business units can be found at: https://www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: RPO - Return Preparer Office, Enrolled Agent Policy and Management, Practitioner Enrollment Office The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. Processes administrative cases requiring the performance of multi-faceted actions, such as research, investigation and analysis of pertinent data, laws, and regulations. Examines, reviews, and verifies various documents, including applications, registrations, affidavits and other legal and administrative papers. Ensures that legal forms and documents are prepared in compliance with appropriate laws and regulations, as well as, established policies and procedures. Reviews various investigative reports for evaluation and determination of non-compliance. Independently reviews and analyzes complex non-routine applications and conducts audits/research of individual case files to determine accuracy and/or resolve inconsistencies. Establishes, updates, and maintains casework file folders in accordance with regulatory guidelines and established office procedures. Reconciles case history utilizing various inventory systems and programs. This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-11, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-11 in as little as three years.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-06 You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with applicable Federal laws and agency regulations governing the resolution of case processing and other administrative matters, sufficient to examine, review, and verify various legal and administrative documents and review investigative reports for evaluation of non-compliance; Experience with basic research techniques used to extract and compile data from files in order to make appropriate comparisons; Oral and written communications techniques to be able to handle inquiries and complaints, as well as provide legal and administrative information. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07 You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with applicable Federal laws and agency regulations governing the resolution of case processing and other administrative matters, sufficient to examine, review, and verify various legal and administrative documents and review investigative reports for evaluation and determination of non-compliance and conduct audits/research of individual case files to determine accuracy and resolve inconsistencies; Experience with research techniques used to extract and compile data from files in order to make appropriate comparisons and develop recommendations; Oral and written communications techniques to be able to handle inquiries and complaints, as well as provide legal and administrative information. This is generally demonstrated by assignments where you received and answered routine/non-complex written and verbal requests for information concerning legal transactions under review by the office, provided status of these transactions under consideration, reasons for exclusions, procedures involved in the approval process, and answers to other general questions. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
