The HUD-VASH Supervisory Social Worker is responsible for the professional and administrative management of the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program. This position is at a highly complex Level 1-B facility in one of the country's largest metropolitan areas which supports six (4) Community- Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).

Major Duties:
Responsible for direct supervision of a significant number of professional staff including GS-12 Social Workers, GS-11 Social Workers, Peer Support Specialists, administrative Title 5, Addiction Specialist, and Registered Nurses.
Responsible for developing, planning, administering, and managing Social Work Services for the VASH Program which includes both Project and Tenant Based, Housing Choice Vouchers both in Chicago and Northwest Indiana. ·
Supervises staff stationed at the main campus, as well as our Project Based locations both in Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
Develops individual, group and program goals and objectives. The incumbent is responsible for various fund control points assigned to the program.
Manages and controls the use of data related to the program functioning and evaluation.
Plans, organizes and directs administrative operations and patient and personnel activities for the service.
Serves as a Fiscal Control Point Official for several control points.
Responsible for consistently meeting all National Homeless Performance Measures and Monitors and for timely and accurate reporting of data Iocally to the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) and nationally.
Serves as the liaison to other Services or Care-lines, facility Director, Deputy Director, and other facilities, VISN offices, NEPEC and VHA Central Office. Additionally, the position serves as a consultant and advisor to subordinates, peers and administration.
Responsible for meeting CARF and Joint Commission standards and for successfully passing GARF and Joint Commission surveys and serves as the Social Work Service CARF committee lead.

Basic Requirements: The following are the basic requirements and qualifications for appointment as a Social Worker in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
English Language Proficiency Requirement - Per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, Paragraph 3j: No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C., chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English.
Education Requirement - You must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Note: Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree. Transcripts Required
Licensure: Candidates must possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Social Worker at the advanced practice level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Copy of Licensure Required.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements as stated above, you must have the following experience to qualify for this GS-13 Senior Social Worker position:
Experience GS-13 Grade Level: You must possess one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to: Having significant personnel management responsibilities for a small to moderate sized professional and non-professional staff, including support staff and professional staff at the GS-12 grade level (or equivalent) and below; responsible for the professional and administrative management of an area in a social work service, in a care/product line, or multiple facilities; providing direct clinical services with or without program coordination responsibilities. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment.
In addition to the experience above, you must demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement.
Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers.
Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion.
Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service.
Ability to provide staff training and development.
Experience is only creditable if it is post-master's degree experience as a professional Social Worker directly related to the duties performed.
